The next potential target of the Kremlin in Europe could be Germany, as it is sort of the core of the European Union. This opinion was expressed in an interview with German magazine Der Spiegel, an expert on the Russian intelligence services Andrey Soldatov, transfers “Inopressa”.
According to him, Russia will try to influence the German elections.

“After the election campaign in the United States, it seemed, began a relative period of rest, but it ended. The so-called Macron-Leaks (leak at the Emmanuel Macron – ed.) on the eve of the French elections showed that the Kremlin, unfortunately, decided to go ahead. So I think it is very probable that his next target will be Germany. Germany is the core and center of the European Union, and Moscow is obsessed with the idea to harm the EU. It wants to weaken, confuse and undermine. This is the goal,” – said the soldiers.
He noted that the interference of the American and French elections have not resulted in negative consequences for Russia, so the Kremlin is boldly set his sights on Germany.
“All the warning and sanctions, as recent leakages in France, is not deterred. Also, I have not heard that from France expelled Russian diplomats. Overall, major traditional political parties of Germany underestimate the power of social media. They are not particularly savvy with the technical point of view and prefer not to go there. And that the Kremlin saw a chance to spread its influence there,” – said the expert.
