According to Avakov, necessary to reconsider the status of ATO, but not fact.
The head of the Ministry of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov stated that he supports the idea of revising the status of the antiterrorist operation in the Donbas, taking into account current realities.
He said this on Thursday, June 15, at the meeting of the parliamentary-civil platform organized by the Advisory mission of the EU and the OSCE.
“The decision on carrying out anti-terrorist operation was a reaction to the then unusual situation not previously encountered the Ukraine. Now, when we are talking about full-scale military operation, and it is not a special operation of the security Services with the involvement of other forces, then obviously we need to reconsider the status, but not to reconsider the essence”, – he explained.
At the same time, the Minister noted that the conflict should be resolved through political means.
“I am deeply convinced that the conflict in the Donbass will be decided not on the line of contact, and will be addressed via political pressure on the aggressor and a political settlement. Second rate, of course, is the position of law enforcement and the military,” – said the Minister.
