Audi has presented the R8 RWD modification

Audi has unveiled the rear-wheel modification of the supercar R8, which was offered exclusively with all-wheel drive. Public premiere of new items took place in the framework of the Frankfurt motor show.

The head of Audi Sport Stefan Winkelmann said that the new Audi R8 V10 RWS “was created for the purist from of Motorsport” and allows the driver to enter the car in a controlled skid. In addition, the specialist stated that the company “managed to get to the public road” racing car R8 LMS for “Le Mans”.

The weight of the new coupe is 1590 kg and 50 kg lighter four-wheel drive versions. A convertible version of the R8 V10 RWS weighs 1680 kg, 40 kg lighter than the Roadster with the quattro system.

The model was equipped with the same 5.2-liter aspirated V10 engine that develops 540 HP and 540 Nm of torque. Coupe and convertible is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.7 and 3.8 seconds respectively — 0.2 seconds faster than the AWD vehicles. In the first case the maximum speed was 320 km/ h, and the second — 318 km per hour.

In Germany the Audi R8 coupe V10 RWS will cost 140 thousand euros, in the open supercar estimated 153 thousand euros. In both cases it was 26 thousand euros cheaper than the corresponding versions of the model with all-wheel drive. Results will be released 999 copies coupé and Roadster.
