At the request of Yanukovych open a case.

The ex-President has previously filed a statement on the coup in the country.

The Prosecutor General’s office will open criminal proceedings on the coup in Ukraine on the request of former President Viktor Yanukovych.

This was stated by Prosecutor General Yury Lutsenko after the meeting of the Regulatory Committee.

“We will consider, register in accordance with the current legislation of the criminal proceedings on the coup that will give the appropriate division of the General Prosecutor’s office, examine and make a legitimate informed decision,” he said.

Earlier the lawyer Vitaly Serdyuk said that Yanukovych has submitted to the GPU statement on the coup in the country. According to him, it is a “deliberate well-organized actions directed to the detriment of Ukraine, and which consist in the forcible seizure of power.”

“These actions led to the events in Crimea and the Donbass”, – said Serdyuk and listed the names of those whom Yanukovych believes those involved in these events. Among them – Minister of internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, the mayor of Kiev Vitali Klitschko, the Prosecutor General Yuri Lutsenko, the NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov and others.

We will remind, Yanukovych declared that won’t participate in the trial on charges of treason and withdraws his defenders. He suggests that the decision of the Obolon court “predetermined” and his sentence to life imprisonment.

The former President is accused of treason (part 1 of article 111 of the criminal code), aiding separatism (part 5, article 27, part 3 of article 110 of the criminal code) and aiding in waging aggressive war (part 5, article 27, part 2 of article 437 of the criminal code).
