The IOC stress that in the preliminary list of the Russian athletes no athlete barred from the Olympics by the IOC due to violations of the anti-doping rules. Many of them are currently awaiting the decisions of the International court of arbitration for sport on appeal in connection with the suspension.
In addition, the IOC representatives said that more than 80% of Russian athletes caught in the provisional list, did not participate in the winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. “This means that there is a new generation of Russian athletes,” – noted in the IOC.
December 5, the IOC decided that the Russian team will be allowed to participate in the Games in 2018, but without the Russian flag and anthem. Athletes who are not doping the history, will be able to act on tournament in the status of “Olympic Athletes of Russia”. The final decision about who is going to the Olympics, takes special Commission of the IOC.
The final composition of the Russian delegation before January 28 will be determined by the Commission, led by IOC Executive Board member Nicole Hoevertsz. She can add to the list, proposed by the Commission Fourneyron, but will be able at its discretion to remove some names.
