It will start up in late 2017.
At the industrial site of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant resumed work on the construction of a plant for processing liquid radioactive waste. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of ecology and natural resources of Ukraine.
The plant is designed to process liquid radioactive waste accumulated during the operation of Chernobyl.
Its minimum design capacity of 2 thousand 500 m3 of untreated waste a year.
The Ministry noted that to obtain the certificate of the State architectural and construction inspection for the operation of liquid radioactive waste it is necessary to perform additional work in connection with the introduction in Ukraine of new building standards for the reconstruction of fire protection systems and lightning protection, as well as external insulation of building LRTP.
The execution of these works will be funded from the state budget of Ukraine.
“The entire scope of work is divided into two packages. The first will be completed by the end of 2017 that will allow you to enter the facility and begin processing of liquid radioactive waste at ChNPP industrial site. The completion of the entire scope of work under this agreement is scheduled for may 2018”, – reported in the Ministry of environment.
