“Discovery” is 10 billion light years from the Sun.
Scientists have discovered a mysterious nebula, which emits a powerful glow due to an unknown source. Experts gave it the name MAMMOTH-1, according to the journal Astrophysical Journal.
The nebula is located in the centre of the unusually high thickening of galaxies 10 billion light years from the Sun. MAMMOTH-1 refers to the so-called giant Lyman-alpha nebulae. Discovered the cloud – the brightest of these and one of the biggest objects of this type.
Scientists have not been able to detect the light source of the nebula, but I suppose that it may come from active galactic nuclei, which are a black hole absorbing huge amounts of falling on them substance. Radiation is able to ionize the gas of the nebula, resulting in the recombined hydrogen reflects light.
