Astronomers have discovered signs of the existence of the second “Sun”

Astronomers have found evidence that earlier the Sun was “companion”.

Findings were obtained based on the analysis of radio-wave radiation that emanates from a remote from us at 600 light years of dust cloud.

Nemesis — that’s called a hypothetical star orbiting the Sun at a distance of 50-100 thousand. E. (astronomical units). And since this star is very dim, to identify it very difficult. Some scientists suggest that the Nemesis is to blame for mass extinctions on Earth.

American astrophysicists have not found evidence that Nemesis exists now. However, in their opinion, the companion star of the Sun could exist in the past. Their conclusions experts have outlined online arXiv.org and a brief overview is available in the publication ScienceAlert.

Scientists analyzed radio wave radiation that comes from the dust clouds in the constellation of Perseus. It is located at a distance of 600 light years from us. The analysis showed how many double and “regular” stars contains the nebula. The experts found 45 single stars, binary 19 and five-fold (when the system includes more than two stars). It turned out that all double stars separated by a distance 500. E. and above, is quite young (it less than half a million years). They also built along the axis of the dust cloud. The old lights are located closer to each other.

Statistical models showed that the objects could be distributed in the cloud so only in one case — if all the luminaries, like the Sun, at an early stage had a star-twin. Although the experts considered far system, scientists believe that they can be extended to the home world. “Our work is a step forward in understanding how to create a binary star system and their role in stellar evolution,” says astronomer Steven Stuhler (Steven Stahler) from the University of California at Berkeley.

Double stars are very common objects. Scientists believe that our Galaxy is approximately half of the stars belong to double systems.
