Astronomers have discovered in the Solar system mysterious object

In Hawaii, spotted something strange in the scale of our solar system.

At first, astronomers thought that a fast-moving faint light is a comet or asteroid of our solar system. But based on its orbit, astronomers realized that the object came from interstellar space.

They acted quickly, and several telescopes focused on object to see what it was, before it disappeared from sight at the speed of 140 thousand km per hour.

What we found was a rapidly rotating object, the size of a football field, which changes its brightness, said study author Karen Meech of the Institute for astronomy University of Hawaii and head of the research group.

Long and rocky cigar-shaped object has burned a dark reddish hue due to million years of radiation of cosmic rays. This shade is similar to objects found in the Kuiper belt, in the outer part of our solar system, but its orbit and shape firmly placed him in the category of interstellar origin. He probably has a high content of metal and rotates on its own axis once every 7.3 hours.

For decades we have assumed that such interstellar objects exist, and now, for the first time we have direct evidence that they exist, ‘ said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of NASA’s science mission.

The object of this Hawaiian name “Oumuamua” in honor of the location where the telescope discovered “interstellar traveller”.

“Oumuamua” came from VEGA, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. But even at speeds of 140 thousand km per hour, it took so much time to reach our solar system of VEGA, which was not in the same position as 300,000 years ago.
