The ancient Britons were cannibals.
Scientists have shown that ancient Britons were cannibals. Judging by the fragments of the skeleton found in the English County of Somerset, the people who lived on the territory of modern Britain, did not disdain human flesh and occasionally filled the pies with the flesh of homo sapiens.
Their arguments archaeologists built on the fact that the bones were processed post-mortem. Presumably, withdrawals of soft tissue, and the part of the skeleton was used for domestic purposes – from the skulls of doing bowls and bone knives and needles.
On the bones, which the researchers found in one of the local caves and managed to see a zig-zag drawings. There are two versions of their origin: either it was the symbol of a tribe that lived in the gorge or part of a burial ceremony. It is noted that evidence of a cannibalistic past of the British has been obtained in the last century. Now it became clear how they survived the cave men in the modern climate of Scotland.
Historian Chris stringer suggests that people may have relatives from starvation. Also has a right to exist a version according to which after the eating the enemy, the people sought to comprehend his wisdom and receive his power. The act of eating of the enemy was considered a tribute to the deceased and recognition of his military skills.
