British archaeologists announced the discovery of an ancient settlement, which is located in the South-West of Scotland.
As noted by experts, the attention of researchers drew the symbols that were carved on the rocks.
The result of this work, the archaeologists were able to unearth settlement that existed in this territory in the VI century.
According to the information received, the settlement was considerably strengthened and developed. Moreover, the town functioned jewellery workshops and smithies. Archaeologists also managed to unearth and the Royal hall, which housed many artifacts and other valuable remains, testifying to the rich feasts.
According to academics, the settlement is reminiscent of the lost capital of the Kingdom of Rheged that existed in V-VII centuries ad, the so-called “dark ages”. Scientists have long searched for the mysterious Kingdom and it is still believed that its capital was located in the County of Cumbria in North-West England.
