Found old silver coins.
In Kiev, during excavations on the territory of the reserve “Old Kiev” at the site of the demolished 70-e years of the XX century buildings, archaeologists have discovered a unique treasure. It is about 2 kg of silver coins: 68 pieces with par value of 1 ruble, the remaining 50, 20 and 10 cents.
Earlier we wrote that he had found a treasure of architectural and archaeological expedition of Institute of archeology of NASU, headed by Vsevolod Ivakin.
“The coins date back to the time from 1817 to 1912,” – said the Director of the Department of cultural heritage Alexander Nikora.
The coins will be restored and will be donated.
“They were Packed with piles of paper, most likely, Bank, and stuck together. There is money with the image of Emperor Alexander III, Nicholas II and other”, – told the researcher of the Institute Vyacheslav Baranov.
It is still unknown who and why buried treasure. Guess it could be an employee of the Bank, which was located nearby. But obviously in those days there was some tragedy, if the owner never returned for his treasure.
