Apple apologized for the fact that slows down your old iPhone

Apple announced the reduction of the cost of replacing the battery, without warranty.

Apple published an open letter of apology for the intentional slowing down of some older iPhone models.

The main reason for the decision on the slowdown has been the battery life, said in a statement on Apple’s official website.

“We hear feedback from our customers. We know that some of you feel like Apple failed you. We apologize. Around this problem is a lot of confusion, so we would like to clarify the details and inform you about some changes that we make,” – said in a statement.

In the beginning of the letter Apple representatives said that the company did not take any steps to intentionally reduce the service life of their products and reduce their work to boost sales of new devices.

“We have always set ourselves the goal to create products that would like our consumers, and creating an iPhone that would work as long as possible, is an important part of this goal,” — said in the Apple.

According to representatives of the company, “all rechargeable batteries are consumable components, which lose their performance as chemical aging.” It is the feature of the battery forced the company in January 2017 to release an update for iOS 10.2.1.

“It includes updates for previous models of iPhone, to prevent unexpected shutdown. It also includes the feature to iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, and iPhone SE that allows you to dynamically control the instantaneous peaks of the performance (only if necessary) to prevent unexpected shutdown of the device. This possibility also applies for the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus with iOS 11.2, we will continue to improve power management function in the future,” explained Apple.

Apple also announced the reduction of the cost of replacing the battery without warranty – c 79 to 29 $ for iPhone 6 and more new models. To change the battery with a discount, it will be possible from late January until December 2018.
