Residents of one of the Romanian cities woke up on 23 August in a 5 cm snow.
In the night from 22 to 23 August, the inhabitants of the city of Borsa Maramures woke up in the snow.
At the peak of Pietrosu in Rodna massif snow cover reaches 5 inches.
“Snowfall started last night, about two o’clock, in the mountains, at an altitude of over 2000 meters. The snow layer reached about 5 centimeters,” said Sorin Timis, mayor Borsa.
“As I live, I do not remember. Yes, in September it was snowing, I remember, but in August, so no. This is impossible,” says 65-year-old local resident Maria Timis.
If four days ago, the thermometer in borşa showed 35 degrees Celsius, in the night of 22 to 23 August, they indicated 6 degrees.
“After high temperatures last week, somewhere around 35 degrees, the coolness is very timely. With the problems facing those who have health problems, because of the difference in less than 72 hours is 30 degrees, and the body more difficult to adapt,” said the mayor of the city.
