Android devices threatened by a new virus

The malware steals all data available on the smartphone.

Experts Palo Alto Networks has discovered a new virus threat that can attack up to half a billion Android devices. The virus steals personal data from a variety of messengers, and can also record calls, intercept SMS messages and take pictures with the camera.

The virus called SpyDealer is a Trojan program that spreads through the GoogleService and GoogleUpdate, and besides – using unsecured Wi-Fi connections in public places.

Malware has the ability to transfer servers, all available personal data, including IMEI, IMSI, SMS and MMS messages, contacts, information about phone calls and the location of the user.

Besides, it steals data of messengers WeChat, Tango, Skype, Line, WhatsApp, Viber, QQ, Telegram, Sina Weibo, Tencent Weibo, Facebook Messenger and others. Moreover, the program can record conversations and take pictures using any camera.

Currently, more than any other affected the people of China, but most vulnerable to its effects are devices running Android 2.2.x — 4.4.x.
