The number of survivors under the rubble of a hotel in Italy has reached 10 people.
Friday during daylight Italian rescuers managed to find ten people surviving in the mountain hotel Rigopiano, who on Wednesday covered the powerful avalanche, reported in the evening the head of the national service of Civil defense (GO) Italy Fabrizio Curci.
“The day was difficult, but not without positive news. Five people learned from the hotel Rigopiano. Is one woman and four children. Five more people have to extract from under the snow,” he said.
Earlier local mass media with reference to various rescue units reported the rescue of eight survivors, and then about the discovery of five more people. The emergence of various data on the results of the search and rescue operation was due, apparently, to the fact that it involved different divisions of rescuers – firefighters, financial guards, officers.
The incident occurred on Wednesday evening in the mountain range of Gran Sasso, located in the Italian region of Abruzzo. Avalanche, the descent of which, apparently, provoked a strong earthquake that occurred on this day in Central Italy, buried under a hotel, where, according to preliminary data, there were 34 persons: 22 lodger, eight members and four guests.
The Curci also said that today due to bad weather conditions in Italy, only five people died, including two people in the hotel Rigopiano.
Search and rescue operation at the hotel that avalanche will continue tonight.
