Ukraine bought U.S. grenade launchers and sniper rifles.
Ukraine purchased in the United States with a sniper rifle and a small batch of hand grenades PSRL-1. About this on his page on the social network Facebook wrote the journalist Yury Butusov.
According to him, after the supply of sniper rifles Barrett APU and machardie of Ukraine, the U.S. carried out a new delivery.
“American lethal weapons in Ukraine. After the supply of sniper rifles, 12.7 mm Barrett M82 and М107 Armed forces and the national guard of Ukraine, the U.S. implemented a new supply of hand grenades PSRL-1. In April 2017 the National guard bought 100 of these launchers from the American company AirTronic USA. Grenade launchers have entered service with a number of units, in particular, the Azov regiment and the brigade of rapid reaction 3018”, – Butusov wrote.
He noted that the grenade launcher is an American modification of the Soviet RPG-7 grenade launcher which is in service in Ukraine. It is convenient ergonomics, manufactured using composite materials and has changed the shape of the nozzle, which enhances the weapon’s characteristics with the standard normal rounds for the RPG-7.
According to Butusov, the same upgrades can and should be inexpensive to carry out for all Ukrainian RPG-7, because buying a large series of such weapons in the United States at the price of more than $5 thousand too expensive.
“But most importantly, of course, this story is not 100 grenades – supply symbolic really. The main thing – that after Barrett, Ukraine has managed to implement another shipment of lethal weapons from the United States. There is no doubt that U.S. regulatory authorities, the transaction is recorded, but not abolished, despite the current ban on the supply of lethal weapons to Ukraine”, – said the journalist.
Butusov said that such deals bring long-awaited and necessary decision by the US government to provide lethal weapons to Ukraine in the framework of the programs of American military aid.
