American found not guilty after nearly 40 years in prison

He was accused of double murder and rape.

A man who spent most of his life in prison, found itself in religion. He was unjustly accused of a double murder and rape. This information was published on the website of “UNIAN”. So, in the US state of California has freed prisoner Craig Cowley, who has reached the age of 70 years.

He spent 39 many years in prison for crimes they did not commit. After a new investigation has not shown enough evidence, he found freedom. He was convicted for the murder of 24-year-old girl and her 4-year-old son. Victim raped, beaten and strangled using a rope. The son was also strangled. The ex-convict and the victim met about 2 years, but shortly before the murder they broke up. Craig Cowley was detained the same day when they found the bodies.

In 1980, the court decided to convict the suspect of Craig Cowley. The man was sentenced to the most severe punishment – life imprisonment. But a new investigation regarding the above mentioned crimes began in 2016, as some officers doubted that Craig Cowley is guilty. The examination was conducted DNA biological samples that are found in the laboratory. I used to think that everything was lost or destroyed.

An examination proved that the DNA of Craig Cowley is absent on the preserved materials. In connection with these evidence, the Prosecutor pardoned the prisoner. California Governor Jerry brown noted that during a long prison term, the Cowley was a model prisoner.
