In the document “Systems, devices and methods of delivering energy using an uncrewed autonomous vehicle” describes such a process of recharging. When the charge of the car will fall below a certain value, the system will give a signal to the UAV with location information and the required amount of electricity. The drone will be able to charge the car when you land on its roof while parked or in motion.
This process strongly resembles the refueling of the aircraft in the air. Moreover, the patent mentions that the technology could be used for refueling of conventional vehicles.
Interestingly, Amazon has filed a patent application in 2014, but only recently received approval from the us patent office. The most difficult aspect of the implementation of the technology is charging the drone, which, moreover, must be carrying tens of kilograms of cargo.
It is noted that currently this is not too realistic concept, but it is possible that soon such solutions will appear. This requires at least the technology of ultrafast charging.
