Remember dashing nineties, when books in the ugly covers were published in huge circulations? What then has not been on the market. Among other things in a separate category it is possible to make so-called adaptations of Hollywood hits in the literary way. We had the opportunity not only to read the novelizations of favorite movies, but together with the authors to dream over the hypothetical sequels. How can you not remember Arthur of Texas at San Antonio (which later turned out to be Ivan Serbin) and his “Predator III”, where the characters of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny Glover from the first two films struggled with the alien hunter weather station in Antarctica. Hell, how many people after reading this book, then searched for years for a tape with a non-existent movie!
Publishers wanted duped the heads of the readers. Including inventing foreign aliases for groups of domestic authors. For example, in the universe “Strangers” worked a Alex Riving, under the mask which hid Grigory Panchenko, Gleb Kireev and Marina Naumova. As already mentioned Serbin wrote about xenomorph under the pseudonym Arch Stranton. Among this obscurantism stood out was a foreigner – an American writer and screenwriter Alan Dean foster. He ate a dog on the official scenes and in addition to the trilogy of “aliens” was marked by such books as “Black hole”, “Something”, “Star wars”, and more recent – “Terminator. Yes come Savior”. Not all of his works were published in Russia, but what came out was generally accepted well. To release cosmowarrior Ridley Scott’s “Alien: Covenant” (Alien: Covenant) foster did what he was good at it – wrote a novel-the novelization. And this book will be published simultaneously with the premiere of the film.
Will publish a novel “AST”, expected circulation: 10,000 copies. Not as many as in the nineties, but by modern standards very well. The main interpreter made familiar to us by Alexander Davydov, on a recent project where the anthology “Bestiary”, “Zone Horror” reported about a month ago. We managed to get an exclusive review of Alexandra, where she spoke about the intricacies and personal impressions of the novel:
After watching “Prometheus”, it seemed to me that here is a film with a complete lack of logic of the scenario permanently killed for me the beauty of “the Strangers”, and I never want anything more to know about them. But life is a funny thing, and after some Ehn years I was offered to do the translation of the novelization for the new movie franchise. I took it in the first place, due to the fact that the author of the books – Alan Dean foster. If someone has filled his hand on the scenes and writes them well, so is he. Well, and, frankly, he did not disappoint. If the film will have the same atmosphere and dynamics, as in the novel, it would be great. Not to say that I like all plot points and characters, but the plot is overall very good.
Most interesting is that the books are actually at the same time (English and Russian version), so, for example, in the course of work we have received edits on the English text. And had to work very quickly – in fact, we dealt with the text for three and a half weeks. The book has three translator: I, Denis Priemyshev and Alice is Not. First, each translated a piece of text, then I read it all in its entirety.
