Adidas introduced the first production pair of sneakers partly printed on a 3D printer.
Futurecraft 4D model created in collaboration with scientists from Silicon valley – namely, developers startup Carbon.
The soles of sneakers are made with the help of three-dimensional printing technology polymer resin and ultraviolet radiation. The creators claim that this technology will allow companies as quickly as possible to turn ideas into reality and produce products in a short time. In addition, the final product will turn out safer and more elastic.
The brand plans to release only five thousand of sneakers this year, but by the end of 2018 – is planned to increase production to 100 thousand pairs. As commented development Director Gerd Manz, Adidas, this technology allows to break some of the framework in creating the athletic shoes and also open a new path of development of the whole industry.
