I’m all for direct elections — have always been and (probably) will.
But if you read the new edition of the Constitution, you will see that there are now sets the basis for the complete abolition of elections of heads.
First, it stipulates the right of state authorities to participate in the appointment of officers of IAS.
Second, it is assumed that the control system in the capitals of the constituent entities may be established by Federal law.
I would venture to suggest that in the course of the year we will roll out a new law on LSG (or radically rewrite the current). After that, about direct elections will be forgotten.
And while this law will not take all the initiative about direct elections will be rejected under the pretext that “we should not hurry and wait for changes in Federal law.”
It’s sad and unfortunate, but it is better to understand now so it was less frustrating.
