Mass crush at the Luzhniki stadium
Under the curtain of the football match between Moscow Spartak and Dutch “Haarlem” in the UEFA Cup, which was held at the Central Lenin stadium on 20 October 1982, broke out the most terrible tragedy in the history of Soviet sport. The disaster at Baikonur

About it was not mentioned anywhere officially, but instead the city crept sinister rumors — whether this is unprecedented in the USSR the terrorists, or the terrible political act. In the end, this story would have turned into a bike, and witnesses would be considered crazy, if not disclosed in the beginning the KGB archives.
The death of cosmonaut Bondarenko
24-year-old Valentin Bondarenko was one of the candidates for the first in mankind history space flight. In the detachment of Soviet cosmonauts who were trained to fly on spacecraft “Vostok”, he was the youngest and at the end of training stood fourth in the list.
But three weeks before the historic start Bondarenko was tragically killed during testing in surdobarokamere. It happened on the 10th day of the 15 that he had to spend alone in a tightly closed chamber with low pressure and high oxygen levels.
