The train was carrying scrap metal.
On Saturday evening, April 8, in the railway section between the Romanian cities of Petrosani and Simeria (Hunedoara County) derailed a freight train with scrap metal. Two people were killed.
Beyond the railway was a locomotive and 14 cars, six of which fell into a ravine. The accident killed the driver and his assistant.
According to preliminary data, at the turning before the viaduct the composition refused brake system. The mixed Commission will continue to examine the circumstances of the incident.
In the region sent heavy machinery to remove the fallen cars and repair the tracks. Railway communication between Petrosani and Simeria is interrupted at least for two days.
