Militants extremist group “Islamic state” (IG banned in Russia) on Wednesday made the first attack on the territory of Somalia.
In the town of Boosaaso on the shores of the Indian ocean, a suicide bomber blew himself up at a police roadblock. Five people died, 10 were injured.
The attack was committed on the territory of the self-proclaimed Puntland in Northern Somalia. There usually are active supporters of the terrorist group “Al-Shabab” – the local branch of “al-Qaeda” (banned in Russia). Somali analysts believe that many militants moved from the “Al-Shabab” in the IG.
“The security officers stopped a suspicious man, who at their approach blew himself up, – said the representative of the Somali police force Mohamed Dahir Adan. – One soldier was killed and four civilians”.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion occurred at the hotel where usually gather representatives of the local authorities.
It is assumed that the newly formed Somalia cell IG is headed by one Abdulkadir Mumin – Somali, who since last August has been on the list of international terrorists, compiled by the U.S. Department of state.
