AST has announced another anthology by Stephen Jones, the famous originator of the line collections of Best New Horror. “Vampires”, “Horror”, “Monsters”, “Mutts” and many other collections of stories edited by Jones gave Patriotic readers the opportunity to get acquainted with the works of recognized guru of the genre. Yes, not all books become bestsellers, but in General their quality issues hardly arose. Not to mention the fact that the views of Jones on the horror and his understanding of genre fans was much closer than the blurred light of the views of other authors – in particular, Ellen Datlow. “The new book of horrors” (The Mammoth Book of the Best of Best New Horror: A Twenty Year Celebration) – a selection of the best of the best.

Steven Jones is well known to all lovers of literature horror. And a considerable merit in this belongs to the legendary series of anthologies of Best New Horror, the editor-compiler of which he is more than a quarter century. The reader is commemorative edition, prepared for the twentieth anniversary of the series, has absorbed all the best that has happened in the Anglo-American horror in the period from 1989 to 2008. In addition to the collection of the works of such prominent masters as Stephen king, Neil Gaiman, Clive Barker, Brian Lumley, Peter Straub, Harlan Ellison, Joe hill and others, the anthology is a unique retrospective of the genre and will be interesting not only to fans of horror but all interested in the contemporary history of popular literature.
The collection will be released in may in the “from Stephen king” series “the Dark Tower”. It already the second case when the anthology is published in Jones personal the King: in 2015 there published the”Book of horrors” (A Book of Horrors). Author’s part of the anniversary collection is impressive, however, the retrospective leaves its mark: most of the stories have already been published in Russian. Although among the “new fish come” can be found in, for instance, Ramsey Campbell, Mark Samuels, Tim Lebbon and Kim Newmanthat is already done. The book was plump, almost 900 pages.
