A resident of Belarus shocked a trip to the Ukrainian market

Foreigners are pleasantly surprised by the prices.

Residents of the city of Baranovichi (Belarus) decided to save money by buying the goods for repair in the Ukraine.

After the trip, they shared details of this experiment with the local newspaper intex-press.

“When at the end of last year is upon us unexpectedly “fell down” new apartment, which was only gray walls, a toilet and a gas stove, we realized that to build it will be difficult. Only for the loan in month out a salary. How to make repairs, buy furniture, plumbing, we didn’t know it, but firmly decided that we will do this immediately – we have long dreamed of their own home and bought it in order to live in it,” says the woman.

So the family decided to go shopping in Ukraine, where, according to rumors, was cheaper, and chose the town of Kovel (Volyn region), which was only about 70 km from the border.

Unpleasant aspect of the journey was six hours of waiting, which Belarusians was about to go home, because by the time they had reached the market in Kovel, there was nothing there. But he changed his mind and decided to find a hotel.

“Hotel prices – several of them in the Kovel – more than democratic. Double room cost us only $10. And hot water (while in Baranavichy it just turned off) was a nice bonus at the end of this terrible day,” the article says.

The next day the family went to market, where they were pleasantly surprised by the prices for food, household chemicals, shoes and toys. And then moved on to shopping all the necessary for repair.

“In Baranavichy to find a decent chandelier cheaper 200 rubles (1 Belarusian ruble – UAH 13,1) problematic — the author writes. — So, when I heard the price of the chandelier, which I liked, couldn’t believe my ears: 63. Model and price we liked it so much that we decided to take two of these products (albeit in different colors), and the seller, for us it is still a discount of nearly $10 did.”

After Belarusians bought the plumbing and Wallpaper, and went home to compare prices, which were not in favor of the market in Baranavichy.

“According to rough estimates, on new things for the apartment, we saved about 500 rubles (6,5 thousand UAH). And that’s including the cost of travel, accommodation and meals. And if you add on clothes and shoes, coffee and other little things we bought, the savings will be even more significant,” she writes.
