The earthquake caused destruction in the village of Vries island of Lesbos.
A strong earthquake destroyed several houses in the villages on the Greek island of Lesvos, according to local residents.
As reported by the Institute of geodynamics of the Athens national Observatory, a strong earthquake of magnitude of 6.1 occurred in the East of Greece between the Islands of Lesbos and Chios in 15.28. Followed by aftershocks of 4.8 and a slightly less strong aftershocks.
According to the newspaper “Proto theme”, the earthquake caused destruction in the village of Vries island of Lesbos, “microtune” after the earthquake, threw boats ashore.
“In the village of Vries massive destruction. Fire services are sent to the village where one or two people locked in a ruined house”, — reports the edition. It has published a video which shows the destruction. According to “Proto theme”, destroyed half of the village, the people had abandoned their homes for fear of new aftershocks and are on the street. At the moment we know of four victims, but their condition was not serious. The magazine says the situation is dramatic.
Vice-mayor of the island Evstratios Cialis reported that partially destroyed his vacation home in the area of Vatera Stavrou near the epicenter of the earthquake. “Fell from the balcony, the wall has a large crack through which we see everything,” he said.
In the town of Plomari, which was closest to the epicenter of the earthquake, the harbour shook so that he went up silt from the bottom, after the earthquake formed a tsunami threw the boats onto dry land, the newspaper writes.
