This was the same forest horror from the producer of “Witches” talked about in August, a colleague of Senoid. In addition, active participation in the creation of paintings taken by the people that produced a gorgeous “Void”, as if that too is a matter of respect. In short, we have another independent canadian horror film, which should definitely look at more closely.
“Pywacket” tells the modern story, however, reverts to the ancient witch explanation:
Frustrated and scared, naive young Lee performs an occult ritual, trying to summon the witch, she killed her abusive mother. But in response to her prayers in the forest wakes up something else.
Who Pywacket? Well, this name came to us from the dark English of the middle ages. In 1644 the most famous and cruel witch hunter Matthew Hopkins, who called himself Witchfinder General, reported that has caught the next victim of witchcraft and forced to call the servants to her spirits. Those appeared in various disgusting images, and one of them was named just Pywacket. Later, this name is not often met in literature and film, the so-called witch familiars or just Siamese cats.
In what guise will appear Pywacket in the same movie? Perhaps this question can be answered by the trailer.
For direction and script “Pywacket” meets Adam MacDonald (“Fateful trip”), and starring Nicole Munoz (“Supernatural”) and Laurie Holden (“the Mist”). The participation of the latter is particularly pleasing, because the actress is really good, and the way she this time is very interesting.
Premiere of “Pywacket” will be held September 14 at the festival in Toronto, and then, hopefully, news about a wide release will appear.
