A Lithuanian court sentenced Russian spies

Convicted spies collected data on the NATO mission to patrol the airspace of the Baltic States.

Siauliai County, Lithuanian court of found guilty of espionage in favour of Russia the former military Sergei Pusina and of the citizen of the Russian Federation Sergey Moiseenko, and sentenced them to 5 and 10 years of imprisonment.

A retired officer who previously served at the air base of the Lithuanian air force, gave the Russians information about the armed forces and the NATO mission to patrol the airspace of the Baltic States, for which he received from 500 to 1,000 euros.

In turn Moiseenko, who in addition to spying was convicted of illegal possession of explosives and ammunition, supplied him with equipment for covert collection of information.

According to investigators, ex-military were recruited by the Russian intelligence services in 2012.
