September 7, the district court sentenced Washington to George Papadopoulos, former US presidential Advisor Donald trump to 14 days in prison for making a false statement to the FBI about his meetings with representatives of Russia on the eve of presidential elections in 2016.
Papadopoulos also sentenced to a fine of $9500, 200 hours of community service and a year of prison conditionally. Former adviser to trump became the first defendant in the investigation of a team of spectacular Robert Mueller, in respect of which the verdict of the court.
Giving evidence to the FBI on 27 January 2017 in the case of RF interference in American elections, Papadopoulos said his meeting in March 2016 with a London Professor, who had connections with the Russian officials, was held before he was appointed adviser to the campaign. At the same time, according to the investigation, at the time former adviser to trump already knew about the appointment.
Papadopoulos also said that even before the appointment met with some Russian woman. According to investigators, the meeting was held on 24 March 2016 – after he came in command of the trump. This Russian Professor Papadopoulos presented as a relative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, although it wasn’t true.
