The Russian Embassy demanded an apology from the chief editor
This publication appeared in the German magazine “Focus”. In the article on German Chancellor Angela Merkel, contains the following phrase: “of Course she is afraid of dogs, Putin’s, but she is definitely not afraid of a dog named Putin”. (Sie hat zwar Angst vor Putins Hund, aber keine Angst vom Hund Putin – the author most likely wanted to make a word game). The Russian Embassy demanded an apology from the editor-in-chief of this publication, calling such a statement an invalid and having nothing to do with freedom of speech.
“One only has to hope that appeared in the cover story of the latest issue of Focus insulting remarks against the Russian President is nothing more than a failed linguistic exercise of the journalist, which is allowed to print by mistake” – said the press Secretary of the Embassy Denis Mikerin.
