A division of Volvo Polestar will develop a 600-strong coupe

Premiere of the car may be held at the Frankfurt motor show in September.

It is assumed that the base for new items will be the S60 sedan new generation, which will introduce in 2018. It is possible that the Polestar models will be built on a modular platform, which Volvo developed jointly with Geely.

Sports car is likely to get the hybrid powertrain. In Autocar suggest that the company can use the T8 unit, which is placed on the XC90 SUV. It consists of a two-liter “turboservice” and the electric motor, which together develop 400 horsepower and 640 Nm of torque.

In this case, Polestar can make a choice in favor of a more powerful electric motor. This will allow to reach 600 horsepower, but have a negative impact on the reserve.

It is expected that the first public demonstration of a sports car Polestar will be held in the autumn at the motor show in Frankfurt.

Polestar was turned into a private automaker in June. At the same time it was noted that all models of the company will be releasing under its own brand and not under the brand Volvo. Director Polestar has appointed Thomas Ingenlath, who invented the current design direction the Swedish automaker.
