Off the coast of New Zealand’s heavy (about 120 kg) seal and a giant octopus agreed to fight, by which just floated a group of kayakers.
The fight happened in broad daylight near the South Bay of Kaikoura. Before tourists ‘ eyes appeared a terrible picture: adult seal tore apart the octopus.
“It is very rare to see something like this, especially in the afternoon. Typically, fur seals in New Zealand go hunting in the evenings,” said the guide.
First, people noticed a flock of gulls circling over one area in the ocean — a sure sign of some event in marine life. The kayakers swam closer I saw that fight a seal and an octopus. The fight lasted about 20 minutes.
