A case of treason Yanukovych will be engaged in Obolonskiy district court of Kiev

The former President on trial on charges of treason.

The Kyiv court of appeals on Tuesday, March 28, decided that the case against the former President Victor Yanukovych will consider the Obolonskiy district court of Kiev.

The decision was announced, the presiding judge Stepan Gladio.

Protection of Yanukovych insisted that his case should be considered in Pechersky regional court.

Recall, March 14, the Chief military Prosecutor General Prosecutor’s office submitted to the court indictment in the case of high treason, former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych.

Yanukovych alleged that on 1 March 2014, staying on the territory of the Russian Federation, he committed treason by submitting a written statement to the President of the Russian Federation with a request to use Russian troops on the territory of Ukraine. This subsequently led to the loss of the Crimea and Ukraine of objects of state property amounting to more than 1,080 trillion hryvnia.

The indictment against Yanukovych was transferred to the Pechersky court of Kiev. But all the judges of this court considered various motions of the Prosecutor in the pre-trial investigation and can therefore not hear the case. In this regard, the indictment will be transmitted to the Appellate court, which determined the jurisdiction.
