A brilliant invention, still remaining a mystery. Photo

Their mysteries yet to unravel.

We all know that history is cyclical. However, in the process of development of humanity many technologies were lost, and some time later opened again. This review presents ingenious inventions of the past, unravel the secret that to this day.

Roman concrete

Many ancient Roman temples, aqueducts, roads are still in excellent condition. Even harbour 2000 years ago a surprisingly well preserved, despite the fact that all this time they undermined the sea.

Construction has reached our days, because it was made of Roman concrete, which is the most durable material based on cement. Modern researchers claim to have discovered the secret of the ancient Romans. It’s all in the pozzolan (volcanic ash). It prevents the appearance of cracks in the material. It is from Roman concrete built the Pantheon – a temple with the largest unreinforced dome.[
The Fire Of Archimedes

Archimedes of Syracuse was born in 287 BC and was known as one of the most outstanding mathematicians and physicists in the history of the Ancient world. He is said to have developed a special system of concave mirrors. If you send them a ray of sunshine, it is refracted, for a few seconds to ignite a wooden ship.

Leading the program “Mythbusters” tried to recreate the invention of Archimedes, the temperature was too low to ignite the wood. Although in 2005, a group of students almost completely recreated the “burning-glass” of Archimedes.
A lot of the Antikythera mechanism

One of the most mysterious inventions of the past called a lot of the Antikythera mechanism. It was discovered by divers in 1901 near the Greek island of Antikythera. The find is a bronze mechanism with 37 gears, wheels and dials. The researchers suggest that the device used to determine the astronomical position of the Sun, moon and other planets. A lot of the Antikythera mechanism dated to I-II centuries BC, although these mechanisms were re-applied only in the XIV century. It remains only to guess how the scientists of the past were able to make such a device.
“The death ray”

The famous inventor Nikola Tesla claimed that within 40 years he worked on the invention of weapons based on directed energy. In 1937, he said that the weapon called “death Ray” who are ready and have been tested. It is a particle accelerator that can fire a beam of directed energy at the distance of 400 km the “death Ray” to melt the engines of the aircraft. Scientist have not found the money to implement its development and maybe it’s for the best that the world has not received new weapons.

Heat-resistant plastic

In 1993, an Amateur chemist Maurice ward in the television program of BBC’s “Tomorrow’s World” demonstrated his invention under the name Starlite. It was superturnstile plastic. Maurice ward was covered with a thin layer of the substance of the egg, and then 10 minutes of heated it with a blowtorch. When the shell broke, and inside the egg was raw. Theoretically, a unique development could facilitate space travel, and even protect people from a nuclear attack, but Maurice ward did not reveal the secret composition of Starlite, taking it to the grave. So far, efforts to reproduce this material were not successful.
