To extinguish the fire needs more fire fighting aircraft
Greece appealed to the European Union for help in fighting the fires raging in the North-East of Athens for three days.

Press Secretary of the fire service of the country Stavroula Malini reported that to extinguish the fire the country needs more fire jets.
“The fire spread at high speed. Through the extent and intensity of fires the country has filed a request for the provision of air assets,” said she.
Cyprus has decided to send Greece a group of 60 firefighters and six vehicles. However, the request for two aircraft CL-415 were rejected by France, because the fire service of the country just fights fire on its territory.
The fires started at the weekend near the town of Kalamos, situated about 45 km North-East of the capital. Already damaged dozens of homes and burned thousands of hectares of pine forest.
To fight the fire attracted three fire-fighting aircraft and six helicopters, 210 firefighters and about 100 soldiers.
