Richard Lewis dick Proeneke is an amazing and very strong-willed person.
Having retired at the age of 51, he went to a remote valley twin lakes, where he built a house and lived alone for over 30 years. During this time, Richard was taking notes about his life away from civilization and filming.
Dick Prince was born 4 may 1916 in Iowa. During the Second world war, he got the skills of a carpenter, which in the future helped him in the construction of houses in the wild. Then he fell ill with rheumatism and almost six months was bedridden. It affected the fate of Richard, he decided to restore his health and tried to keep myself in good shape. In 1968, dick decided to move to 1 year away from civilization to test themselves on the ability to survive in the wild and try your own hands to build a house. He chose a beautiful spot in Alaska and began construction. The Foundation under the house he made from river pebbles, and the frame is made of white spruce. To heat the house dick had laid out the fireplace, and the roof was covered with moss.
Almost all materials used in the construction of houses were gathered near the construction site. All the work dick Prince performed alone, using only hand tools, many of which he fashioned with his own hands. After one year, dick Prince decided not to leave the wild and stay in their new home. So he lived alone for another 30 years. At the age of 82 years, when a 45-degree frosts have become too burdensome for dick, he left Alaska, officially passing his farm the national Park service, and moved to California.
Richard Prince died in 2003 at the age of 86 years, becoming one of the most famous hermits of America. He left behind many notes, photos and videos about the wildlife of the Alaskan wilderness. His house became a Museum, and shot them videos installed in 4 films: “in the wild”, “the Frosty North”, “Alaska: silence and solitude” and “Alone in the wild, part 2”.
