Ukrainian and Russian Ombudsman Valeria Lutkovska and Tatiana Moskalkova has agreed to transfer to Ukraine from Crimea annexed 18 Ukrainian prisoners.
The sides agreed in Geneva on March 6 in the framework of the annual meeting of the Global network of national institutions for human rights, the press service of the Ukrainian Ombudsman.
“During a meeting of ombudsmen, special attention was paid to the issue of implementation of previous agreements of the parties, in particular, movement of Ukrainian citizens serving sentences in the territory of the Crimea, to other institutions for further punishment in the territory of mainland Ukraine”, – stated in the message.
During the meeting Lutkovska and Moskalkova “discussed ways the early technical implementation of previous agreements such movement, reviewed the implementation of the transfer procedure by the relevant state bodies of both countries”.
Ombudsmen of Ukraine and Russia indicated that the move will happen soon.
Lutkovska expressed the desire to visit the Ukrainian political prisoners, who are in Russia: Andrey Sahaja, Evgenia Panova, Roman Sushchenko and others. Furthermore, the Ombudsman discussed issues related to the transfer of Stanislav Klikh in Verkhneuralsk.
